Badger Daylighting Corp is looking for a Fleet Coordinator to be based out of Denver, CO.  Reporting to the US Fleet Manager, the Fleet Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining fleet, fleet inspections, training, hydrovac operators and troubleshooting problems with operators and managers. 

Specific Duties include:

  • Semi Annual/annual inspections of each truck in the region’s fleet.
  • Train and develop Operators in the region.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance including 24 hour on call basis for emergency repairs.
  • Ensure the fleet management program is carried out in the Region and set up the necessary supplier relationships to keep the trucks in working order.
  • Ensure compliance to Badger’s safety and high service standards in the Region.
  • Establish regular fleet inspection schedules for the region.
  • Perform demos for customers in new markets to assist with launch.
  • Training of managers in fleet maintenance expectations.
  • Preventative maintenance program and tracking monthly maintenance.
  • Inspect R& M files for DOT purposes.
  • CAT and Cummins downloads, oil sampling and discussion with operators.
  • GPS installation, tracking and dissemination of reports.
  • 60% travel within the Western U.S.

 Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years mechanical background in hydraulics, electrical and drivelines; heavy machinery a plus
  • Minimum 3 years Fleet experience
  • Minimum Class B CDL required

  • Conducts follow up where needed and holds Manager’s accountable for proactively managing their teams’ performance.
  • Coaches Manager’s on attendance, accommodation and other HR processes/policies.
  • Must understand EEOC and Affirmative Action compliance and have the ability to assist in any legal matters and investigations.

Drive HR Operational Excellence

  • Identifies change management issues and works with the business leaders and HR Centers of Excellence to develop and execute change management strategies.
  • Ensures effective rollout and implementation of corporate HR initiatives.
  • Effectively utilizes internal experts in labor relations, benefits, compensation, etc to ensure company is compliant with company-wide HR policies and procedures.
  • Assists the business in understanding relevant HR metrics, (e.g. in areas such as attendance, employee relations, recruitment, workplace conflict, grievances, etc…) in order to assist them in identifying causal relationships and to develop local strategies to improve.
  • Leverages Centers of Excellence on an as needed basis.
  • Maintains a network of internal and external contacts to regularly benchmark and remain current on future trends and developments related to industry practices, legislation, guidelines and programs related to HR. Participates in HR associations and events, in order to remain current and promote the Badger brand.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree preferred.
  • Min 8 years of experience in human resources as a generalist with experience in the following areas: Health & Safety, Labor Relations, Human Rights, Disability Management, Employee Relations.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a definite asset.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of employment legislation, HR trends, issues and best practices.
  • Solid track record of building relationships at all levels and proving pro-active and responsive solutions to business needs.

Position Overview:
The DOT Compliance Administrator position is responsible for overseeing and ensuring DOT compliance for Badger Daylighting, to include overseeing the drug and alcohol program, creation and maintenance of driver qualification files, hours of service monitoring, and reporting to 3rd party databases. 

Job Duties

  • Oversee the Drug and Alcohol program, to include pre-employment screens, random testing, reasonable suspicion and post incident testing for FMCSA, PHMSA, Non-DOT and all client specific programs.
  • Assists with pre-employment process to include MVR and criminal background checks, and DOT Verifications of Employment on new hires.  Also performs client specific background checks as needed, providing fit for duty clearance letters and notifications as required.
  • Maintenance and review of driver annual and pre-employment incidents/accidents and driver history performance reviews and drug and alcohol records.
  • Maintenance and review of Driver Qualification Files.
  • Responsible for responding to DOT Verifications of Employment.
  • D&A and background reporting to 3rd party databases including DISA, NCMS, ISTC, ISAT, HASC, MUST, CCS, COATS, TEAM and Erail-safe.
  • Provide annual and quarterly D&A and incident statistics to required safety databases
  • Oversee and give notification for the random drug and alcohol DOT Non-DOT pulls to management.  Follow up and ensure completion.
  • Drug and Alcohol-Liaison with labs on Drug and Alcohol Testing, scheduling random, pre-employment and post-accident screenings, maintenance of related files.
  • Assists with all state required MVR requester codes and contracts.
  • Assisting regional managers and their staff in driver’s fit for duty.
  • Oversee hours of service and daily log compliance.
  • Oversee DOT Accident Register and FMCSA Safety and Fitness Electronic Records System.

 

KEY QUALITIES/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum two years’ experience with DOT compliance
  • Must have experience working in safety consortiums; preferred Hire Right, Disa, ISNET World.

Badger Daylighting Corp is looking for a Contracts Clerk based out of the Brownsburg, IN office.  Reporting to the National Accounts/Contract Manager this position will be responsible for recording and tracking customer contract along with following up on emails and phone calls to customers in order to complete files. This individual will also will be responsible for filing, providing administrative support and answering the telephone as necessary. The Contracts Clerk will also assist the Contracts Specialist, National Accounts/Contract Manager and the US Finance and Administration Manager in providing support to the corporate operations.

 

Specific Duties

  • Record contracts, purchase orders, etc. as they are received.
  • Complete general information (i.e. submit OSHA,EMR, etc.)
  • Process Pre-qualifications, Vendor Registrations, etc. as required.
  • Request insurance certificates as needed.
  • Process W-9 requests, as required.
  • Review requests for information from customers and provide the appropriate follow-up.
  • Confirm approval with Managers rates, scope, etc. and follow-up as needed.
  • Prepare contract file for Contract Specialist’s review.
  • Email contract back to customer or attach cover letter and send packet back to customer by federal express, when originals are required.
  • Ensure appropriate managers and departments within Badger are copied on information that relates to their area.
  • Maintain Master list of all contracts.
  • Scan and ID customer file and create customer specific log.
  • Maintain and update weekly log of all contract items received every Friday by noon.
  • Process Online Purchase Orders for specific customers.
  • Follow-up for returned contracts.
  • Scan and file contracts upon final receipts.
  • Assist Contract Specialists, National Accounts/Contracts Manager, and US Finance and Administration Manager with special projects as time allows.
  • Filing as needed.
  • Assist area managers with information for growth as needed

  • Associate’s degree in Business or High School diploma with relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

Badger Daylighting is expanding and seeking professional Hydrovac Operators to join the largest Hydrovac business in North America.

The Badger Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating as an alternative to mechanical equipment or hand-digging. The Badger Hydrovac uses pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely, precisely and cleanly excavate around utilities, pipelines and numerous other applications.

MUST HAVE A MINIMUM CLASS “B” CDL LICENSE WITH TANKER ENDORSEMENT and CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.

Description:

  • Seventy percent or more of the job’s work time is spent operating the on-board hydro-vacuum system outside the truck performing non-destructive excavation around sensitive underground piping and cables.
  • Other hydrovac work consists of tank entry, cleaning and vacuuming, mobilization of equipment, truck maintenance, safety meetings, etc.
  • Heavy lifting at times is required.
  • Working at heights are sometimes required
  • The job requires typical construction type hours with some weeks being less than 40 hours and other weeks very busy requiring 50 plus hours.
  • Badger is a 24/7 operation.

Requirements:

MUST HAVE A MINIMUM CLASS “B” CDL LICENSE WITH TANKER ENDORSEMENT and CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.

  • Minimum of 1 year driving experience with CDL PREFERRED
  • Applicant shall agree to initial Drug/Alcohol testing and random testing thereafter
  • OSHA10 safety card certification is required. (If applicant does not hold an OSHA10 certification, Badger will pay for computer based training with applicant completing on-line course within 5 days of hiring on their own. Certification is the property of the applicant.)
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a current and valid DOT medical certificate.
  • Criminal background check and safety performance verification will be conducted.
  • Clean MVR (2 or less traffic violations in current 3 year period).
  • Safety mindedness is essential.
  • Travel out of town and out of state to work will be required at times.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours. (Due to client schedule, our operators may not work every day but must be flexible for irregular hours).
  • Underground utility experience a plus.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Drive and operate Badger Daylighting Corp equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Properly document all Company, Federal, State, and Customer documentation/paperwork as required by law and or established policy in a clear and legible manner.
  • Able to effectively and professionally communicate with on-sight customer representative to locate least intrusive and safest place to park company equipment while on job sight.
  • Able to lead and direct subordinate personnel to perform duties/tasks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Able to troubleshoot and as the need arises perform minor repairs to equipment.

Essential Physical Functions/Requirements of the Job:

  • Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty.

  • Prepare Sales Tax returns for appropriate states and ensure that company stays in compliance.
  • Prepare all Personal Property Tax returns for US operations, as needed.
  • Update and maintain Fixed Assets and Insurance allocation for fleet units to include unit cost financing.  This will include all depreciation of Fixed Assets.
  • Maintain property lease and general agreements for entire company.  Ensure leases are ready for Finance Manager Review and signature. This also includes being proactive on expiring leases and working with field manager on renewals.
  • Assist US Accounting Manager and US Finance/Administration Manager with audits (internal and external), as necessary.
  • Assist with banking needs, as necessary:
  • Daily cash reports
  • Edit reports for ACH payments to Badger
  • Stop pay requests
  • Wire transfers
  • Update cash spreadsheets
  • Payment to partners semi-monthly

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an Accounting Department, with a minimum 3 years in a supervisory role.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Confer with the COO and Management team to develop and implement a growth strategy for the US operations and each Region. Developing appropriate strategy and ensuring it is implemented is critical to the success of Badger.
  • Overall management of the operations and ensure activities are in accordance with the standards, policies and objectives of Badger. These include quality, health and safety, legal, environmental and other normal requirements.
  • Work with Safety personnel to ensure Badger safety policies and procedures are being followed and enhanced as required. Safety should be utilized as a competitive advantage.
  • Be the focal point for Business Development. Work with VP of BD, Directors, RM’s and BD personnel to ensure we have an efficient and effective approach to Business Development.
  • Prepare operating budgets with management and assume full responsibility for achieving these budgets.

  • Establish recruiting requirements by understanding organizational plans and objectives; communicate with managers to discuss needs and track open/filled positions.
  • Perform full cycle recruiting for open positions within the assigned regions.
  • Build Applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, employment agencies, media, internet sites, and truck driving schools; provide organization information, opportunities, benefits, build rapport, and make presentations.
  • Perform EEOC Outreach.
  • Develop a strong local network of contacts throughout the assigned regions in order to develop a strong talent pool.
  • Determine applicant qualifications by studying job descriptions and job qualifications.
  • Attract applicants by placing job advertisements, newspaper ads, job sites, requesting referrals and networking.
  • Screen applicants on a consistent set of qualifications, analyze responses, verify references and compare job requirements to qualifications.
  • Forward qualified applicants to appropriate hiring manager and set interviews.
  • Evaluate applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers;
  • Provide candidate updates.
  • Represent the company at job fairs as needed.
  • Participate in Regional conference calls.
  • Performs other duties and assists with special projects as necessary or assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Previous corporate recruiting experience
  • Previous EEOC outreach experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently; take initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to a variety of individual situations and various communication styles.
  • Must comply with all Federal, State and Local privacy regulations.
  • Must be extremely organized and able to multi-task.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required. Strong Excel skills preferred.
  • Must thrive in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to set and achieve goals and deadlines.
  • Must have a people personality and enjoy talking on the phone. This is an entry-level recruiting position.
  • Some travel may be required.
