Area Supervisor – Regina, SK.

Badger Daylighting is currently seeking an Area Supervisor to join the largest Hydrovac business in North America at our Regina location. The Badger Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating  using pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely and cleanly excavate around underground utilities and pipelines in the oil & gas, utility and municipal sectors. Reporting to the area manager, the successful candidate will provide front line support and supervision to staff.

 

Job duties:

 

  • The scheduling and recording of monthly truck maintenance
  • Assist in scheduling and dispatching units daily.
  • Communicate with clients daily
  • Assist in project bidding and project proposals.
  • Reviewing operator’s daily paperwork (Daily trip tickets, PJS tickets & Daily logs).
  • Ensuring that operators are following Badgers maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Deliveries of materials to the units in the field in needed
  • Conduct monthly unit field inspections
  • Assist in preparing monthly safety meeting agenda
  • Support with monthly safety meetings
  • Perform daily onsite safety inspections
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in hydrovac excavation, construction or fleet management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • The person in this position will need to be a team leader and possess the ability to relate well to a wide variety of people (field & office).
  • Computer skills and strong organizational skills required.
  • Must have a professional approach to the business.
  • A clean class 3 driver’s license is preferred.
  • First Aid, C.S.T.S., H2S, Fall Protection, Confined Space, OSSA and Ground Disturbance are an asset.
  • Straight Vac, Semi-vac, Combo-vac experience is an asset.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screening.

Summary

 

Badger Daylighting is currently seeking a professional Design Engineer to join the design and manufacturing group at our Red Deer location. The Badger Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating  using pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely and cleanly excavate around underground utilities and pipelines in the oil & gas, utility and municipal sectors.

The Design Engineer will be responsible for the development and design of Hydro Excavation Vacuum Trucks.  Responsibilities will include the preparation of CAD models, FEA simulations, manufacturing drawings, work closely with manufacturing, and ensure designs conform to applicable standards and regulations.

Job Duties

  • Follow Badger best practices with focus on Best Operator, Best Truck
  • Ensure compliance to Badgers safety and high service standards. Badger is a safety oriented company and it is important to use this to help develop a competitive advantage and raise the standards of the industry
  • Develop and prepare engineering drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, perform engineering calculations, specification sheets and CAD models
  • Complete documentation and create drawing packages
  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
  • Participate as a member of the design team during brain storming sessions and concept work
  • Respond quickly to the shop floor’s needs in response to addressing issues that may surface during production regarding the manufacturing spec., bills of material, or routings
  • Participate in cross-functional, continuous improvement teams as the opportunity presents itself.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited University
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA
  • 5-10 years of 3D CAD experience, including standardized drafting practices (Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience as a PDM CAD administrator would be beneficial but not required
  • Background in FEA with a focus on CFD would be beneficial but not required
  • Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to develop accurate manufacturing specs in a timely manner
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to take ‘concept’ to reality
  • Willingness to learn from ones mistakes, take responsibility and not afraid to ask for help
  • Strong brainstorming skills with an ability to create innovative solutions; an out of the box thinker
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Badger Daylighting Corp is looking for an Operations Administrator to be based out of the Lithonia, GA office.  Reporting to the Area Manager, the Operations Administrator will be responsible for scheduling trucks and managing personnel to cover operational needs.  The Operations Administrator will address customer concerns, analyze and resolve or escalate to area manager. The Operations Administrator will also be responsible for scheduling the maintenance of trucks, analyze operator compliance with safety, DOT hours of operation and other regulations.

 

Specific Duties include:

  • Responsible for truck related administration.
  • Work with the Safety Advisor to analyze conditions and determine that site orientations, area specific orientations and general tickets are applicable, valid and current.
  • Determine the scheduling of service and repairs for the trucks with input from fleet advisor.
  • Obtain and document all job specific information from the customer regarding the job scope.  
  • Coordinate and dispatch the fleet to jobsites.
  • Schedule staff ensuring hours of service do not exceed allowable amount.
  • Help to develop a strong safety culture and be a leader in safety.
  • Take calls from customers.  Resolve customer’s requests by scheduling trucks and managing personnel to meet them including 24 hour call out as required for emergencies.
  • Train and develop operators.
  • Work with Area Manager to oversee the successful operation of the location with a focus on Operational Excellence.
  • Support the Area Manager in all aspects of running the business.
  • Champion and manage preventive maintenance programs, training, purchasing, safety, compliance and Fleet Services initiatives that affect the cost structures of the business.
  • Analyze time, billing, and driver logs to assure they are correct and complete within both paper and paperless versions.
  • Maintain R&M files for DOT purposes.
  • Enforce a respectful and safe working environment.

 

 Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience preferred in the following Industries:
    • Vacuum, Pump Trucks
    • Commercial Underground Construction
    • Trucking/Fleet Management
    • Sewer / Water Line
    • Underground Utilities
    • Oil and Gas
    • Environmental
  • 1-2 years Dispatch experience.
  • Fleet maintenance coordination experience.
  • Union experience preferred.

Accounts Payable Supervisor

 

The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for processing invoices for inventory items and invoices from our Canadian office.  The Supervisor is also responsible for supervising the AP Clerks and Sr. AP Clerks and assisting the US Accounting Supervisor as needed on other AP projects. 

Specific Duties

  • Match Inventory invoices to receipts, enter the invoices, and work with the parts team on any outstanding receipts and invoices.

  • Maintain Inventory vendors and address discrepancies as needed.
  • Manage, complete, and review the monthly accrual process with the other AP Clerks.
  • Maintain vendor and payment application issues with persistency until issues are resolved.
  • Responsible for leading the AP processes for payments, vendor setups, mail sorting, and daily questions from the AP Clerks.
  • Training, guiding, and holding accountable the AP Team in efficiencies, procedures, and teamwork.
  • Assist with other areas in AP as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in Accounts Payable with high volume.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a supervisor capacity in an accounting department.
  • Strong PC skills – Accounting software, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word are required.
  • The successful candidate will have a professional, positive attitude and lead by example.

Line Locator – Burlington ON.

Badger Daylighting is currently seeking a Locator to join the largest Hydrovac business in North America based out of our Burlington location. The Locator would be working in Burlington and the GTA area.  The Badger Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating  using pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely and cleanly excavate around underground utilities and pipelines in the oil & gas, utility and municipal sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct utility and sewer lateral locates as required
  • Conduct research or analyze data regarding excavation locations, construction prints and plans to       determine actual lines of requested utilities
  • Operate various electronic devices including use of a receiver wand and transmitter designed to assist in the locating and verifying of underground utilities including gas, phone and fiber optic cables
  • Mark utility lines using spray paint or coloured flags
  • Prepares various reports and documentation verifying marked utilities

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum high school education
  • 3-5 years previous experience locating utilities
  • Previous experience with locating utilities (gas, phone,  fiber optic cables and/or water)
  • Ability to distinguish colours for marked utilities
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to carry up to 15 lbs

Badger Daylighting is expanding and seeking professional Hydrovac Operators to join the largest Hydrovac business in North America.

The Badger Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating as an alternative to mechanical equipment or hand-digging. The Badger Hydrovac uses pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely, precisely and cleanly excavate around utilities, pipelines and numerous other applications.

MUST HAVE A MINIMUM CLASS “B” CDL LICENSE WITH TANKER ENDORSEMENT and CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.

Description:

  • Seventy percent or more of the job’s work time is spent operating the on-board hydro-vacuum system outside the truck performing non-destructive excavation around sensitive underground piping and cables.
  • Other hydrovac work consists of tank entry, cleaning and vacuuming, mobilization of equipment, truck maintenance, safety meetings, etc.
  • Heavy lifting at times is required.
  • Working at heights are sometimes required
  • The job requires typical construction type hours with some weeks being less than 40 hours and other weeks very busy requiring 50 plus hours.
  • Badger is a 24/7 operation.

Requirements:

MUST HAVE A MINIMUM CLASS “B” CDL LICENSE WITH TANKER ENDORSEMENT and CLEAN DRIVING RECORD.

  • Minimum of 1 year driving experience with CDL PREFERRED
  • Applicant shall agree to initial Drug/Alcohol testing and random testing thereafter

Assistant Operators –   Spirit River, AB.

Badger Daylighting is currently seeking professional Assistant Hydrovac Operators to join the largest Hydrovac business in North America at our Spirit River location. The Badger Hydrovac system is a non-destructive method of excavating as an alternative to mechanical equipment or hand-digging. The Badger Hydrovac uses pressurized water and a vacuum system to quickly, safely, precisely and cleanly excavate around utilities and pipelines.

 

Most work will be in or around the previously mentioned area with some short term out of town work as a possibility. Training will be provided for people with a desire to succeed, are clean cut, and can pass a drug and alcohol test.

 

Requirements

  • Willingness to follow Badger’s best practices with focus on ‘Best Operator, Best Truck’.
  • Must possess and exhibit a strong safety acumen.
  • Previous Hydrovac, trucking, vacuum truck or other related oil and gas experience preferred.
  • Mechanical inclination an asset.
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate a strong customer service focus.

Principales fonctions et responsabilités

  • Suivre les meilleures pratiques de Badger en mettant l’accent sur les ‘’Best Truck’’, ‘’Best Opérateurs’’
  • Assurer la sécurité des camions Badger ainsi que les normes de service élevées dans la region. Badger est une compagnie orientée vers la sécurité et il est important d’utiliser cela pour developer un avantage compétitif et augmenter les standars de l’industrie.
  • Tout les apsects opérationnels de l’entreprise.
  • Mettre en oeuvre et surveiller le programme de sécurité et maintenance des Badgers.
  • Développer et gérer le programme du service à la clientèle.
  • Assisté dans les réparations si nécessaire.
  • Chargé des ventes et du développement des affaires.
  • Entretenir les relations avec les clients actuels et dresser une liste de clients potentiels.
  • Développer un fort lien d’équipe avec les employés.
  • Faire la coordination et le dispatch (englissisme) des unites Hydrovac.
  • Former, guider et gérer les opérateurs et superviseurs.
  • Plainement responsable des pertes et profits pour la region.

Exigences

  • Être bilingue et fluide (Français/Anglais)
  • Avoir un minimum de 5 années d’expérience en gestion comportant toutes les obligations pour la région sa resposabilité. **
  • Expérience antérieure dans la direction d’équipes de travail de 10 employés et plus dans un cadre syndical.
  • Avoir, préférablement, 3 ans ou plus d’expériences dans l’opération d’Hydrovac, Combo ou Camions d’excavation.
  • Avoir une base dans le domaine des transports, de l’équipement mobile et/ou dans le milieu du service énergitique ou de construction et/ou avoir de l’expérience dans la gestions de projects d’infrastuctures au Québec. **
  • Détient préférablement un permis de conduire de classe 1.
  • Avoir une forte base en sécurité**
  • Avoir de l’expérience en ventes et développement des affaires est un atout.
  • Être familier avec le marché à Montréal est un atout.
  • Avoir des compétences informatiques et organisationelles de base.

Area Manager – Montreal, QC

Summary

Based in Montreal, QC, and reporting to the Vice-President of Eastern Canada, this role is responsible for operations, safety, financial, and business development in the city of Montreal. The preferred candidate would be familiar hydrovac trucks or other related equipment and be able to grow the business. The candidate needs to have customer contacts/location relationships within the territory therefore only local to the area need apply please. You will be supported by Badger Daylighting’s Administration, Fleet, Safety, and Business Development departments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow Badger best practices with focus on Best Operator, Best Truck
  • Ensure compliance to Badgers safety and high service standards in the area. Badger is a safety oriented company and it is important to use this to help develop a competitive advantage and raise the standards of the industry.
  • All operational aspects of the business
  • Implement and monitor Badger’s safety and fleet maintenance program
  • Develop and manage a customer service program
  • Assist with mechanical repairs as necessary
  • Field sales and business development
  • Maintain existing customer relationships and establish new prospects

  • Coordination and dispatching of the Hydrovac units

Requirements

  • Bi-lingual (Fluent in French and English)
  • A minimum of 5+ years of Management experience with full accountability for area of responsibility
  • Previous experience managing a large team of 10+ employees in a union environment
  • Preference for 3+ years of operating Hydrovac, Combo or Vac trucks
  • Previous background in transportation, mobile equipment, and/or energy or construction service companies and/or Quebec infrastructure project experience required
  • Class 1 license preferred
  • A strong safety background
  • Sales and business development experience an asset
  • Familiarity with the Montreal market an asset

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Badger Daylighting Corp is looking for an HSE Advisor to support the assigned District/Region.  Reporting to the Corporate HSE Manager the HSE Advisor will enhance and administer the Regional Safety Program, assist Area Managers with clear understanding of responsibilities and specific requirements to comply with Badger’s Safety Program. Assist Area Managers and clients to ensure they understand our safety program.

Specific Duties

Continuously improve the Regional Safety program which includes; client relations, regularly scheduled audits, complete annual unit field inspections, incident investigations, DOT compliance, insurance liability and worker compensation claims. 

  • Support area office personnel to implement the safety program.
  • Establish regular inspection schedules for the region.
  • Conduct bi-annual field office audits and ensure follow up and corrective actions are complete.
  • Complete unit field inspections with operations personnel and enhance safety culture and safety presence on the jobsites.
  • Oversee regional insurance and workers compensation claims.
  • Assist in incident/accident investigations, analysis, root cause, preparation of reports; complete incident summaries and management follow up.
  • Prepare monthly inspections, audits and claims reports to Regional and Corporate Management.
  • Maintain regional logbook compliance records and retention. Audit 10% of driver logs monthly to ensure DOT compliance.
  • Work with our area managers and clients to support Badger’s efforts to provide a safe efficient service.

Requirements

Badger Daylighting is looking for an IT Administrator based out of the Red Deer, AB office.  Reporting to the Corporate IT Manager, the IT Administrator will be responsible for user accounts in Active Directory, Office 365, SharePoint and Exchange for employees in Canada and the US. This will include creating security and distribution groups as needed that adhere to existing standards and defining standards when necessary.

Job Duties

  • User account creation and maintenance in Active Directory, Office365, Exchange and SharePoint for both the US and Canada.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of user account creation as well update with user changes (group memberships, title changes, address changes, phone number changes, etc.).
  •  Support users who have submitted requests via the help desk system.
  • Remote support for users on tablets, cellphones and laptops
  • Create and maintain email accounts

Requirements/Qualifications:

Human Resources Operations Lead – Calgary, AB.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Compensation, Benefits and Payroll, the successful candidate will lead and develop a high-quality, service-driven transactional HR function, improving processes and establishing best practices.
